Body Animation

Hi, FaceFX support team. Now I'm looking to add body animation into my character. I have renamed the fbx animation and it's detected by faceFX, as seen in image bodyanim01.png below.

But when I move the frame cursor to check the animation, the actor is suddenly gone!

I have done the batch export.txt file, but only the head and face movement. How about the body movement? Is there another batch export file I need to do to make the body move? What should I do to fix this? Any suggestion would really help. Thanks. :)

It's impossible to tell what is going on here without the content (send it to me on email and I'll take a closer look), but here are two examples of things that might cause this:

1) The root bone in the animation is scaled differently (for example, much smaller) in the animation than it is in the base FBX file. The FaceFX camera is still positioned where it was looking at the Base FBX mesh, but with the animation, the character is too small to see.

2) Same thing as above, but the root bone is significantly displaced from the origin

Hi doug, did the file I sent get to you? I tried another FBX file. Turns out the character had been resized into a giant. It seemed that the animation managed to get into the human model though.

The size of the character jumps to giant when I put in the FBX animation. If the size can be adjusted, it will be perfect. How can I rescale it?

I received a link, but was unable to download the file without installing a program or signing up for spam...can you try again with dropbox?

I can't be sure without seeing the files, you might be having an issue with the FBX unit scale (in the FBX export settings in Max/Maya). If one file is set to centimeters, and the other one meters you could get this kind of issue.

Thanks to Doug, my muse!

My character's size apparently was set in meters (1 unit = 1 m), while my animation is exported in centimeters (1 unit = 1 cm). So I went to 3DS Max 2013, go to Customize > Units Setup > Metrics, centimeters and re-import the character using the FBX 2013. It's all good now.

Thank you for keeping up with me and being more than willing to help! You have my respect and gratitude, Doug!
