where are my .facefx files being generated by the FaceFX exporter??

When I export my Ref Pose and Nodes from Maya, is the exporter suppose to generate a .facefx file. Where? It never creates one.

stuck.

You have to save the .facefx file where you want it. When you've exported the reference pose and bone poses, click the "Save Actor.." button and choose a location and file name to save the data.

I see no 'Save Actor' button in my exporter.

Under the File drop down there is a 'save' option but it only has .ma and .mb as my file choices.
There is a 'Change Analysis Actor' but that doesn't seem to create the facefx file either.

Is this a limitation of the evaluation software?

I'll bet you are using Maya 2010, correct? In the FaceFX.MEL file, you can see in lines 63-99 how we open the File save dialog. Maya keeps changing the interface for that, and in Maya 2010, the filtering file feature was completely busted.

It's possible there is a way to fix it from the MEL script, but I do not know how. If anyone does, please let me know. The workaround is just to name your file, and ignore the incorrect (or lack there of) file filtering. If you don't have .facefx at the end of your file name, we will add that for you.

I am using 2010. So maybe this is a non-starter.

Ive watched the tutorial many times, after the 'batch export' section the narrator simply says, "...now we've got and Actor file.", nowhere did I see anything about a 'save actor' button.

If indeed I do now have an actor file that would bring me back to my original question; where is it?

You need to save it with File->Save from the FaceFX plugin interface.

As I mentioned in my last post, the "Files of type" drop down will be incorrect in Maya 2010. You are saying it is telling you that it will save a ".ma" file. It won't. It will save a .facefx file.

Then the file is located wherever you save it.

that worked. Thanks.

I didn't have to manually rename the file, it supposedly saved as an .ma but when i went to rename it it was already a Facefx file.
